About this session
Healthcare in India
There has been a lot of interest in medical tourism to India by Western patients. Consultants view global medical travel as a solution to problems of cost, quality, and access to health care encountered in the West. Interest in Indian health care has also been fueled by the corporate reorganization of India's private health care sector that has produced larger hospital systems, focused factories, and vertical integration into related businesses – all of which have sought to integrate care and provide high quality care at a lower cost. This webinar will critically assess these developments as to their veracity and impact. Professor Burns will argue that consultants have overstated the prospects for medical travel and the accomplishments of its hospital sector.
